How I Walk the Talk
I’m Michael.
PhD physiologist. Performance coach. Lifelong athlete. Dad. Partner. Adventurer.
I train hard. I recover intelligently.
I track only what matters.
I ski, ride, lift, play, live and refine.
I’m 46 and getting more capable every year. Not less.
I don’t tell men how to live powerfully unless I’m living it myself.
For 20+ years, I’ve worked at the intersection of science and human potential- from NIH research to high-level executives, endurance athletes and everyday grinders who want to feel better, move stronger and show up fully.
My approach blends modern testing, wearables and leading edge training
with old-school accountability, presence and heart.
I’m based in Denver. I’m a proud dad. And I believe health should amplify your life, not restrict it.
I help men perform at a high level today while building bodies and minds that last decades.
Real fitness isn’t about how fast you can go or how much you can lift-
it’s about how long you can stay in the game.

Why I Do This
I choose to model a different path - for my son, my clients and every man who knows he’s meant for more.
Training for a lifetime, not a Moment.
My 5 year FitSpan Goal:
To podium a 70.3 triathlon: to prove what intentional, intelligent training makes possible in midlife.
My 30 year FitSpan Goal:
To line up at a mountain bike stage race with my son, Bennett, when I’m 75 - fit, capable, and fully alive.
Between now and then,
we'll complete annual Father-Son Adventures.
Trips that require strength.
Fitness that enables play.
A body that says "Yes! "instead of "not anymore".
What FitSpan Means to Me
FitSpan isn’t about chasing youth. It’s about extending capability.
The ability to train hard, recover well and still have enough in the tank decades from today to carry a pack, ride a trail, paddle a river or say “let’s go” when it matters most.
My training decisions today are guided by one question:
Does this help me stay in the game longer - physically, mentally and relationally?
Why I Coach This Way
Performance without longevity is fragile and longevity without purpose is hollow.
I coach men who want to be fit for their life, work, family and future adventures not just for an event.
FitSpan is how I align:
* Ambitious performance goals
* Intelligent recovery and durability
* Real-world strength and endurance
* Meaningful relationships
* A long horizon worth training for
